This is a tale of two nations, their musical heritage, and a timeless battle for supremacy. The King is dead; long live the King. Since the middle of the last century, a reciprocal invasion of our shores and senses has continued to shock and pleasure us, wave after wave, unrelenting.
Divided by a common language, united by Rock'n'Roll, this musical version of the special relationship has unfurled its influence on the world. The sounds of London, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, resonate in American hallways, while those of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and New Orleans, echo through the valleys of this green and pleasant land. All this, while the rest of the world listens in awe.
From Route 66 to Carnaby Street and back again, the musical encounter rages. We may never know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall, how history is conceived in a Cavern, or how Comets and the Sun created a King. We do not expect The Godfather to make Harry Potter an offer he can't refuse, or The Lord of The Rings and The Wizard of Oz to walk, side by side, along the yellow brick road. But as long as this cultural exchange endures, we should always expect the unexpected.
